Spay-a-Stray
Spay-a-Stray Initiative
Spay-a-Stray is a program provided to Sierra County residents that will cover the entire cost of sterilizing up to 5 feral cats a month, plus each cat will also get a rabies vaccination. Complete this application to request authorization for the program. You will receive your confirmation that your name and phone number have been added to the list at Arenas Valley Animal Clinic of Sierra County. The community member then traps the stray cat(s) and transports them to the vet office for spay or neuter and rabies vaccination. Once the procedure is done, the community member picks up the cat, keeps it safe for 24 hours to recover after surgery, and then returns it to the same location they trapped it from. All cats sterilized using this program will have their ears tipped as a visual identifier that they have been sterilized.
